The State is relaxing rules on temporary closures of leisure and hospitality businesses throughout California due to COVID-19. As early as June 12, California will release guidelines to counties for leisure travel to resume.
Curious to know what attractions are open to the public? Here are our top things to do in Oxnard after reopening, including information on how these operators plan to keep you safe.
As of May 15, recreational rental businesses at Channel Islands Harbor have been authorized to operate. Enjoy wide-open spaces in the waters of Channel Islands Harbor. Or, rent equipment and send it along with you on an Island Packers excursion. Channel Islands Kayak Center, Hopper Boat Rentals and Southern California Jet Skis have all taken measures to ensure the safety of employees and customers.
Anglers itching to go deep sea fishing can now safely do so. As of May 29, Channel Islands Sportfishing and Hook’s Landing have been given the greenlight to move forward on reopening. Measures taken by the sportfishing businesses will be consistent with guidelines developed and recommended by the Sportfishing Association of California.
Come social distance at 1,000 ft with Channel Islands Parasail, officially open as of June 4! Wondering what to expect? Both take off and landing are right from the boat. First, you’ll be custom-fitted with a secure parasail harness and life jacket. After taking a seat on the flight deck, you’ll be gently launched–and retrieved–utilizing a hydraulic winch system.
Parasailing trips seat up to 6 passengers, members of the same household only. Crew members and passengers will be required to wear face coverings while onboard, and the vessel will be fully sanitized prior to each excursion.
Experience unparalleled natural beauty, and stay away from the crowds at Channel Islands National Park. Because of their remoteness, the islands have earned the title of least visited National Park in the USA.
Island Packers reopened from Channel Islands Harbor on June 5, with its first excursion to Anacapa Island. They are now accepting reservations for all scheduled excursions for Summer 2020. New safety policies include the following:
Headed to the beach, but forgot your umbrella? Interested in a boogie board? Rent miscellaneous recreational items, bicycles or a 2- or 4-person surrey from Wheel Fun Rentals at any of the following Oxnard locations:
Available for limited group sizes of up to 16 passengers, board the Sunfish to the waters of Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary. Enjoy a downwind kayak adventure designed for maintaining good social distancing. Wild Blue Adventures seating will be outdoors, so bring warm clothing. Snorkel gear is not provided.
Passenger temperature screenings will be required prior to boarding. Passengers will also be required to wear masks while onboard the Sunfish, but will be allowed to remove them while kayaking.
Whether you’re ready to get back to normal life, or you’re tip-toeing into a new reality, Oxnard businesses are following strict County guidelines to help make you feel safe. Staying overnight? Oxnard hotels are implementing protocols to prevent exposures to guests as well. Whenever you feel ready for your next adventure, Oxnard will be here to greet you.
