Visit Oxnard Logo Wins American Advertising Award

Oxnard, CA – Verdin Marketing of San Luis Obispo has secured a 2020 American Advertising Award in the Coastal California Competition on behalf of client Visit Oxnard in the “Logo Design” category.

The mission of the American Advertising Awards is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

The logo, which received a “ADDY,” was designed as part of a brand overhaul, rooted in a color palette which uses warm “sun” and cool “water” tones mixed in with vintage pastels to elicit a feeling of nostalgia and belonging. Present in its design are friendly, fluid letters and a strong horizontal line to emulate the sun sinking into the ocean. The bold new look pays homage to the city’s diverse attractions and laid-back, approachable culture.

Winners from regional competitions are eligible to move onto a district competition, winners from which then move onto the National Awards Show held June 7, 2020, in Palm Springs during ADMERICA, the American Advertising Federation’s national conference.
