Day 1:

Los Padres National Forest, Marine Sanctuary/Carpentaria Bluffs & Seal Sanctuary

Start your day of with Breakfast at BG’s café in downtown Oxnard before taking a beautiful coastal drive up the 101 to the Los Padres National forest. Spend the morning hiking through lush forests and make your way to the Arroyo Seco gorge to take a dip in its pristine waters, or use one of the many quartz rocks surrounding it to make a splash with an epic cliff jump. On your way back to your home base in Oxnard you will drive through the quaint and beautiful coastal town of Carpentaria.

There you can park at the nature preserve on the bluffs and walk down to a beautiful beach to hunt for sea shells or have a picnic. During the months of December through May these bluffs overlook an amazing seal sanctuary where almost a hundred seals and their pups sunbath on the shore. From these bluffs you also get an extraordinary view of the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary and can frequently see dolphins playing in the surf. After a stop at your hotel treat yourself to dinner at Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine located in the Channel Islands Harbor for a unique dining experience.

Day 2:

Kayaking, Sand Dunes, Santa Monica National Recreation Center

Have a quick bite at Mrs. Olson’s coffee hut then head next door to the Channel Islands harbor to rent a kayak for an hour or two to explore the Harbor up close. Grab a sandwich for the road at the Harbor Deli Mart them jump on the PCH for a coastal drive you can’t find anywhere else. Along the way you will come across a mammoth sand dune, bring a piece of cardboard and feel the rush of a California sled ride. Finish off your journey at Santa Monica National Recreation Area by renting a horse and exploring the trails. After a day on the trails enjoy a dinner at Fresh and Fabulous.

Day 3:

Farmer's Market, Whale Watching, The Collection

Sunday mornings 10-2 are farmer’s market days at the Channel Islands Harbor. Grab a tamale or fresh baked bread for breakfast from one of the vendors then pick up some organic locally grown snacks for your day. Reserve a spot on a whale watching excursion and spend your afternoon spotting majestic whales on their migration. Finish your trip with some laughs at Levity Live at Oxnard’s The Collection at Riverpark. During the show you can enjoy signature drinks and a delicious meal from the theater’s restaurant Copper Blues.
