Our History

In 2018, the Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau was transformed into Visit Oxnard. The new name is a result of a strategic rebranding initiative designed to more closely mirror the growth and transformation of our organization, community, and industry. Visit Oxnard leads the long-term strategy for attracting overnight visitation through a number of initiatives, including: advertising, distribution of promotional and collateral material, direct sales, media relations and press trips, content development, online engagement, participation in tradeshows and marketplaces, travel trade, industry relations and community relations, and other hospitality functions.

Our Impact

Travel matters, and tourism plays a crucial role in Ventura County’s regional economy. The “California Travel Impacts” report, prepared for Visit California by Dean Runyan Associates, shows visitor spending reached $1.76 billion, a 14% boost from 2021, and supported 15,730 jobs in Ventura County. Continued growth highlights how important tourism is to the region and California’s economy. Locally in Oxnard, visitor spending generated $4.5 million in transient occupancy tax in 2022, up from $3.3 million in 2011, providing a stream of revenue in Oxnard to fund the community’s way of life including support of essential programs, such as public safety, infrastructure and parks.

Our Organization

In addition to being governed by a Board of Directors, made up of a diverse group of professionals with expertise from various sectors of the tourism and hospitality industries, Visit Oxnard is made up of a team of marketing, sales and administrative professionals whose goals are to: 1) Increase overnight stays and visitation during off-season; 2) Heighten the destination profile as perceived by residents and visitors; and 3) Increase online audience across social and digital platforms.
