Oxnard Beaches

Oxnard offers three expansive beach areas along the Pacific Coast, with two small sandy beaches along the inlet of Channel Islands Harbor. Here are the best beaches in Oxnard to help you plan your next visit to Oxnard.

ABOUT OXNARD BEACHES

Geographically, Oxnard's beaches are southwest-facing, with the sun setting over the Channel Islands across the Santa Barbara Channel, making for magnificent beach sunsets visible from our shores. Our beaches are expansive, marked by sweeping natural sand dunes, and our waves are considered intermediate to advanced for surfers. Oxnard was once almost named "Zachari" -- The Greek word for sugar -- for the sugary texture of its sands.

Fun Fact: Oxnard was nicknamed "Hollywood by the Sea" because it was the backdrop to many golden era films in the 1920s, including Rudolph Valentino's The Sheik. Today, two of our most prized beaches are still named for that period in time - Hollywood Beach and Silver Strand (for the silver screen).

Silver Strand Beach

This uncrowded beach is the local’s favorite in Oxnard. It’s a prime destination for local surfers and kayakers. Visit the Silver Stand Murals and don’t miss the steel remains of the luxury ocean liner La Jenelle, which shipwrecked in April 1970.

Eats Nearby:
The Strand Bar & Grill is within walking distance from the beach. On the menu, ribs, burgers and pasta dishes.
