Heritage Square

Travel back in time without leaving the present at Heritage Square, where history and nostalgia meet celebrations of the present.

Heritage Square began in 1985 as a vision to preserve the historical and architectural uniqueness of turn-of-the-century Oxnard. It officially opened in 1991. Spectacular Victorian and Craftsman-style houses, once owned by Oxnard pioneer families, are proudly displayed in a lushly landscaped square block of historic downtown. Through the commitment of some of Oxnard’s original families, other investors, and the City of Oxnard, eleven homes, a church, water tower, pump house and storehouse have been moved to a single block and restored to their original condition. Serving the community as an event and cultural center and major tourist attraction, Heritage Square houses over 25 businesses including The 1901 restaurant and The 1901 Speakeasy, Heritage Coffee & Gifts and a Visitor Center/Gift Shop.

This lively treasure trove of history boasts meticulously preserved architecture, enchanting gardens, and a lively spirit that celebrates Oxnard's journey through the ages. With each visit to Heritage Square, you're not just a spectator, but a joyous participant in Oxnard's vibrant narrative of days gone by.
