Set in spring 1945 on the remote North Sea island of Amrum, 12-year-old Nanning helps support his struggling family as World War II nears its end. While he dreams of his Nazi officer father returning home, his devoted mother spirals as Germany faces defeat. When she longs for simple luxuries, Nanning sets out on a quest that exposes the harsh reality closing in around him, shattering his innocence. Directed by Fatih Akin, Amrum is a tender coming-of-age story set against the final days of the war.
