OCVB Announces 2019 Calendar of Events

May 18-19, 2019
California Strawberry Festival
The delicious heart-shaped fruit is the star at the 35th Annual California Strawberry Festival held at Strawberry Meadows of College Park. The annual festival is one of the top festivals in the nation and features all-day fun for the entire family with concert performances, ‘Strawberry Promenade with celebrity cooking demonstrations and Strawberryland for the Kids with rides and attractions, gooey contests, and more. General admission is $12, seniors 62+ and active military are $8 and youth ages 5-12 are $5. Kids 4 and under are free.

June-August – Friday Evenings
Downtown Summer Concerts
A favorite summertime tradition in Oxnard, the Downtown Summer Concerts take place select Friday evenings from June 21 through August 31. Held at historic Heritage Square, the summer concerts suit every musical preference with styles ranging from reggae to swing and from country to rock ‘n roll. The concerts run from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

June through August – Thursday Evenings
Rock the Collection Summer Concerts
Get ready to rock at The Collection at RiverPark for a free summer concert series. The concerts are offered Thursdays at 6 p.m. with music ranging from reggae to classic rock to country and Motown.

July 27-28, 2019
Oxnard Salsa Festival
Celebrating food, music and dance, the Oxnard Salsa Festival celebrates 26 years in 2019 with concerts on the main stage, Oxnard Salsa Tasting Tent, dance performances, children’s fun area and arts & crafts. $5 for main stage seating and Salsa Tent.

July 6, 13, 20, 27; August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Concerts by the Sea
Concerts by the Sea is set against a summer sky with the sparkling water as the backdrop. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of musical entertainment including Rock, R&B, Rockabilly/50’s Surf Music and more! Held at Peninsula Park. Free.

July-August 2019
Dallas Cowboys Training Camp
Visitors can see live professional football when the Dallas Cowboys train for their upcoming season during the summer. The sessions are held at the River Ridge Playing Fields and are free of charge with a minimal parking fee. Besides watching the practice sessions, visitors can also take advantage of the Dallas Cowboys Experience featuring a Kids Zone, ‘Cowboys on Tour Truck’ with team merchandise and Hall of Fame trailers. Special performances include the mascot, Rowdy and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

August 4, 2019
5th Annual Chowderfest
Local restaurants compete for “Best Chowder” during the annual Chowderfest in Channel Islands Harbor. The event features chowder tastings, wine samplings and live music. The event is a collaborative fundraiser hosted by the Channel Islands Maritime Museum and local yacht clubs. Admission is $25 per person.

September 7, 2019
Oxnard Jazz Festival
Oxnard Jazz Festival offers a diverse mix of Jazz, Latin Soul and R&B. The event takes place at the picturesque Oxnard Beach Park, and ticket prices vary for each of the concerts.

October 5, 2019
24th Annual Multicultural Festival
Oxnard celebrates its cultural diversity during the Multicultural Festival. Highlights include musical entertainment, fun educational activities, international booths, car displays and more. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and takes place in Plaza Park, Downtown Oxnard. Free.

December 6, 2019
69th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration
Visitors can watch in awe as Ventura County’s tallest Christmas tree is illuminated! The evening includes the debut of the Winter Fantasy Music & Light Show taking place throughout the month of December plus a visit from Santa Claus! The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Free.

58th Annual Oxnard Christmas Parade
An annual tradition for the whole family. The Oxnard Christmas Parade features colorful marching bands performing favorite holiday tunes, spirited floats, equestrian units and more! Held in Downtown Oxnard at 10 a.m. Free.

12th Annual Oxnard Tamale Festival
Held in conjunction with the Oxnard Christmas Parade, the Oxnard Tamale Festival offers more reasons to visit Downtown Oxnard during the holiday season! Visitors can munch on a favorite holiday tradition – tasty, handmade tamales while also enjoying live music, arts & crafts, dance competitions and community booths. Held from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Free.

December 14, 2019
54th Annual Parade of Lights
Holiday lights dance across the water during the Parade of Lights boat parade in picturesque Channel Islands Harbor.
Pre-parade activities include ‘snowplay’ for the kids, arts & crafts fair and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The lighted boat parade follows at 7 p.m. circling the Harbor starting at Peninsula Park. Free.

December 15, 2019
12th Annual Santa to the Sea Half Marathon
The annual Santa to the Sea is a great way to stay in shape while giving back to the community. Participants can choose from a half-marathon race to a 5k run/walk, or a 1k kids run and even a ‘Diaper Dash’ for the younger sect. Registration fees vary and all proceeds benefit local charities.

13th Annual Holly Trolley Holiday Light Tour
Get a top-side view of Oxnard’s holiday lights in Downtown Oxnard by hopping aboard a grand double-decker during the 13th Annual Holly Trolley Holiday Light Tour. The bus departs from Centennial Plaza and includes a drive through Oxnard’s National Historic District filled with spectacular displays of holiday lights and décor. The tour includes a stop at historic Heritage Square for hot cocoa and cookies. Buses leave at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.
