Oxnard, CA – has a fresh new look! Visit Oxnard published a new website to promote Oxnard to leisure and business travelers. A soft rollout occurred in October 2020 after a year-long undertaking by tourism web developer Tempest of Philadelphia. After implementing some finishing touches, the organization is excited to announce the website to the public.

Its new features and functions include:

  • A fresh look! Tempest designed a stunning new site integrating Visit Oxnard’s award-winning brand and scenic photography, with usability and digital accessibility in mind.
  • A thoughtful site map: Multiple iterations of information architecture passed through review before a final selection was made. The result is a thoughtful, user-friendly navigation with logical pathways toward content.
  • On the technical side, Visit Oxnard has been utilizing Tempest’s IDSS customer relationship manager (CRM) for years. Having a content management system (CMS) on new platform Craft that is in alignment with existing infrastructure allows for greater flexibility, performance and customization.
  • A redesigned media hub: Journalists and travel writers will find helpful resources including updated photography assets, Oxnard in the news, and a brand-new press kit available for download created by Verdin Marketing of San Luis Obispo.
  • A new more search engine friendly event calendar allows visitors to access information for citywide events directly from Google and other web crawlers.
  • New resources for hospitality partners including an event submissions form, a page on how to partner with Visit Oxnard, a brand guide with downloadable assets and a comprehensive list of festival sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.
  • Coming soon! A new dynamic map featuring Oxnard’s tourism districts, with quick facts on where to eat, play and stay in each district, created by Verdin Marketing.

The new website was a collaborative effort from start to finish, with team members from Visit Oxnard, Tempest and Verdin Marketing kicking off the project in-person on a multi-day familiarization tour of Oxnard. Months of in-depth planning, design, execution and revisions culminated in the stunning site viewable today.

“We wanted the website to mirror our vibrant community, with pops of color and big bold photography,” says Brittney Hendricks, Vice President of Marketing & Communications of Visit Oxnard. “Every effort was made to ensure that we avoided the washed-out sleepy beach community vibe. That’s just not us.”
