Visit Oxnard Welcomes Back Dallas Cowboys with Oxnard Fan Night, VIP Experience Giveaway and More
The Dallas Cowboys are back in town! America’s Team is returning to Oxnard, Calif. for their highly-anticipated summer training camp, kicking off with the first open practice on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. This annual, family-friendly experience gives fans the chance to watch the professional football players in action as they train for their upcoming season.
“Watching the Dallas Cowboys practice in Oxnard has become a cherished tradition that both locals and visitors look forward to each year, and we’re thrilled to welcome the team back for another exciting summer,” said Julie Mino Buffo, President & CEO of Visit Oxnard.
“We have the X Games igniting Ventura for the first time ever from July 21-23, immediately followed by Dallas Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard, kicking off July 26,” said Brittney Hendricks, Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Visit Oxnard. “The convergence of these two major sporting events makes this an exciting time for sports enthusiasts in Ventura County!
Dallas Cowboys practices will be held at the River Ridge Playing Fields located at 2501 Ventura Road, and the majority will be open to the public with free admission. Open practices commence on Wednesday, July 26 at 11:30am and continue through Tuesday, August 15.
On Friday, July 28, Visit Oxnard will host its second annual Oxnard Fan Night at The Collection at RiverPark from 4:00-6:00pm. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will be performing, signing autographs and taking photos with fans, and freestyle rap artist Zeale will return as MC to energize the crowd with Cowboys inspired games and trivia. Attendees will also enjoy an appearance by Cowboys mascot Rowdy, and performances by local dance crews Undeclared and Hip Hop Mindset.
Opening ceremonies and special fan event, Cowboys Back Together weekend, will be held on Saturday, July 29, with doors opening at 9:00am. Fans can enjoy live music, appearances by Dallas Cowboys alumni, Dallas Cowboys mascot Rowdy, a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders autograph signing, exclusive merchandise deals, prizes, giveaways and more! The opening ceremony will take place at 11:00am, including a performance by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and remarks from Cowboys Owner, President and General Manager Jerry Jones, before the open practice session at 11:30am.
On Saturday, July 30 is the popular DCC Academy, welcoming children ages 6 to 16 to join the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for a morning dance camp at Pacifica High School.
Then on Monday, August 7, the Cowboys will host Heroes Appreciation Day to show their gratitude towards military personnel, first responders and front-line healthcare workers. Heroes Day will be open to the general public with Heroes being honored.
In addition to the training sessions, the family-friendly experience will include various activities and entertainment including a Dallas Cowboys merchandise pop up shop, autograph opportunities, field access, appearances by Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Rowdy at Opening Ceremonies, food and drink vendors and more. Visit Oxnard will be running three VIP Experience contests, with the grand prize package including the following:
Admission for the public to Dallas Cowboys camp activities and the spectating area is free; parking during the week is $10/day for small vehicles and $20/day for oversized vehicles, and parking on weekends is $20/day for small vehicles and $40/day for oversized vehicles. The Residence Inn by Marriott at River Ridge will again serve as the headquarters hotel for the Cowboys.
