It’s no surprise that the seaside City of Oxnard nets some tasty, freshly cut fish from the local waters. From a waterside spot featuring Japanese eats to a no-frills seafood shack, seafood foodies can get their share of ‘Vitamin Sea’ from a variety of seafood eateries located throughout the town.
Cabo Seafood Grill & Cantina
A local favorite, this popular spot features flavorful Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood, sizzling platters, hand-made tortillas, and award-winning salsa with guacamole prepared fresh table side. Visitors can also enjoy classic margaritas and a full bar.
El 30 Mariscos Mexican Seafood Restaurant
Rumored to have the best mariscos in Oxnard, El 30 Mariscos offers extravagant ceviche and seafood cocktails – shrimp, octopus and abalone plus ‘The Tsunami’, a mix of mussels, freshwater prawns and shrimp cooked in rompe madre sauce. Another tempter, ‘The Maremoto’ also combines mussels, prawns and shrimp cooked with the skin on in rompe madre sauce. Weekly specials range from Taco Tuesdays to Sushi Roll Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays.
EMC Seafood & Raw Bar
With eight locations scattered throughout Southern California, EMC Seafood located at The Collection in Oxnard, takes seafood very seriously. Starters include tuna tartare, crab cakes or crispy soft-shell crab with ponzu sauce. Select from a wide variety of main course options such as cioppino, carpaccio, lobster roll, sashimi or perhaps a sushi roll. For those who like a challenge, the Seafood Tower is sure to please, stacked with whole Maine lobster, uni, mussels, Little Neck clams, shrimp cocktail, oysters and scallops.

Fisherman’s House Sushi
Located in Harbor Landing in Channel Islands Harbor, this casual seaside sushi spot serves up fusion rolls with reasonably priced toro (fatty tuna). From shrimp udon to chirashi bowls, curry rice and spicy tonkatsu ramen, guests will find many options from which to choose from.
Dive into fresh crab, lobster, seafood and combo plates in this low-key waterside setting at Fisherman’s Wharf. Visitors order directly from the live seafood menu which includes rock crab, spider crab, Dungeness crab, seasonal spot prawns, manila clams and lobster.
Hook, Line & Sinker
Get ready to be reeled in and hooked at this fresh fish establishment. The restaurant is filled, not only with flavor, but also with a great atmosphere and exceptional service. Popular choices include the ceviche tostada, or the shrimp & veggie stir fry. Fresh fish varieties are also available from the fish market.
More fresh seafood can be found at Kanaloa Seafood located in an Oxnard’s industrial section of town. Although it doesn’t have the harbor views, guests can be entertained with the observation window looking into the company’s fish processing room. Kanaloa is known for focusing on “responsibly sourced” seafood. Guests will find house-made seasonings and sauces, sushi-making supplies and more from the fresh seafood market. Kanaloa’s signature cuisine consists of fish tacos, fishwiches, tuna melts, salmon burgers, salads, clam chowder and more.
Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine
Named one of the top 25 Brazilian restaurants in America by Business Insider/Foursquare, Moqueca serves up the traditional cuisine of the small Brazilian state, Espirito Santo. “Moqueca” is a term for a unique way of cooking and serving, using a clay pot to cook all types of seafood and vegetables without water. “Capixabas”, the term used for the people of Espirito Santo, is named in Moqueca’s signature dish, “Moqueca Capixaba”.
Spanning five generations, the family-owned business has served the Oxnard community since 1952. Originally founded by Izzy Otani, the eatery features Japanese style seafood with a twist of Mexican flair, and many of the dishes are recipes originated from Great Grandfather Izuto. The no-fuss seafood market and kitchen serves up Japanese American-style dishes including everything from chow mein to tempura plates, to teriyaki bowls, to fish & fries and clam chowder.
