Adventure within reach.
An ideal place for a summer day trip, Angeles National Forest and the neighboring San Gabriel Mountain range is home to a vast array of rock climbing options. Though some areas are designated wilderness zones and bolting is prohibited, there are plenty of great climbing routes in this scenic alpine setting. If you are taking the PCH to get there, stop at Point Mugu Rock where you can start off on an easy but iconic climb.
For an added day of rock climbing adventures, hop on the 101 North to the Los Padres National Forest. The Santa Barbara area is full of sheer cliff faces and rock formations and is a hot spot for rock climbers of all skill levels. On your way back into town enjoy beautiful ocean views and during early and mid-spring pull off into one of the many cliffside viewing areas to spot migrating whales and dolphins.
