About Brittney

Brittney Hendricks leads marketing and public relations at the Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Oxnard), overseeing all media efforts, including award-winning campaigns recognized by PRSA, MarCOM, AVA Digital, Telly, and American Advertising Awards. She has been featured on KTLA, Spectrum News, and KEYT Morning News, as well as various radio and online platforms.

Brittney serves as a Board Director for the Central Coast Tourism Council and is active on committees with Destinations International, Visit California, the California Travel Association, and the Ventura County Lodging Association. She was honored with the 2023 Rising Star Award from the California Travel Association and the 2024 Young Professional of the Year Award from the West Ventura County Business Alliance. Brittney holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis from Chapman University.

Fun Fact: Brittney is a former professional dancer and was a Los Angeles Laker Girl from 2009-2013!

Destination Management

  • Wayfinding Program Development: Secured funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to develop a wayfinding program for the City of Oxnard.
  • Gateway Task Force: Served on City of Oxnard Mayor John C. Zaragoza’s Gateway Task Force, guiding the concept development for four landmark gateways into Oxnard.
  • Urban Beautification Projects: Contributed to the development of interior and exterior murals at the Oxnard Transit Center in collaboration with artist Maxfield Bala, enhancing the space with vibrant public art.

  • Oxnard Fan Night: Spearheaded Oxnard Fan Night on behalf of Visit Oxnard, featuring performances and meet-and-greets by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, mascot Rowdy, and Cowboys alumni such as Charles Haley and Drew Pearson.

  • Original Road Trip Pass: As PR Chair for Central Coast Tourism Council, ideated the Original Road Trip Pass program to provide press trip hard cost reimbursement as a partner program to the Visit CA Gold Pass.
  • Crisis Communications Plan: Created Visit Oxnard’s Crisis Communications Plan, utilizing guidance from U.S. Travel’s Playbook: Crisis Readiness and Response.

1. What is your favorite thing about Oxnard?

I love the quality of life in Oxnard. It’s geographically a stunning location; people are warm, unpretentious and proud of their roots; and there’s so much culture interwoven in the fabric of the community that makes it unique.

2. What's a hidden gem in Oxnard that most people don't know about?

Culturally, the Nardcore scene is something that’s been around for decades, and unless you’re familiar with punk rock music, it may not be on your radar. Most weeks, you can catch a punk rock show at venues like Mrs. Olson’s, Casa Agria and Oxnard Performing Arts Center put on by promoters like Midnight Society Productions.

3. What is your top recommendation for visitors to Oxnard?

Oxnard is home to the world headquarters of Drum Workshop, or DW Drums. It's the leading manufacturer of high-end drums globally, and their craftsmanship is truly unmatched. If you're passionate about music, you’ll be excited to know that DW Drums offers weekly tours by appointment, where you can see firsthand how these incredible instruments are made. It's a must-visit for any drum lover!

In terms of restaurants, my can’t miss spots in Oxnard are The 1901 and 1901 Speakeasy in Heritage Square, The Waterside Restaurant at Marine Emporium Landing, Anaba Sushi at Seabridge Marina, Tacos La Bonita and House of Tacos on the Oxnard Taco Trail and The Rudder Room for toes in-the-sand sunset viewing over Channel Islands National Park.
