Looking for a new wine tasting adventure? These are the best wineries to visit in Oxnard.
Oxnard is located on the coast between LA and Santa Barbara, making for an ideal and fun wine weekend getaway. Come and explore Oxnard's four distinctive wineries and tasting rooms.
Our Oxnard wine tour begins with Herzog Wine Cellars. With the largest portfolio of kosher wine in the world, Herzog Wine Cellars produces more than 25 varietals reflecting the diversity of California’s grape-growing regions. Paired with incredible wines, it’s the profound story of the Herzog family dating back nine generations that drives worldwide acclaim for the Herzog label.
From the courts of Kaiser Franz Joseph of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to a Europe torn by war, to the streets of New York City, to the vineyards of California and their state-of-the-art winery in Oxnard, the Herzog story is one of a family’s enduring commitment to their Jewish identity and their belief in the promise of America.
Located in a state-of-the-art facility in Oxnard's business district, visitors are greeted with an elegantly designed interior when they step through the doors. A visit to Herzog Wine Cellars offers everything from wine tastings to Mediterranean-inspired kosher cuisine at the critically acclaimed Tierra Sur Restaurant.
Are you curious about the wine-making process? Enjoy a self-guided tour where you can view the fermentation vats, wine aging barrels and the bottling process from the second story.
There are extras such as cigars, chocolates, special events and winemaker’s dinners that make Herzog Wine Cellars a must-visit for every wine connoisseur.
“Producing quality wines–and being that we’re a kosher winery–sustainable is just a perfect fit.” - Joseph Herzog, Vice President of Winery Operations
From a custom, on-site water treatment facility to sustainable materials and practices in the production process, as well as pushing to adhere to strict sustainability standards in its vineyards, being good stewards of the land is a primary practice for Herzog Wine Cellars.
Senior winemaker David Galzignato elaborates, “We approach sustainability from an E2E process. And while we’ve made great strides, our work is far from done."
David continues, “We currently have sustainability certificates for our vineyards in Alexander Valley and Clarksburg and Lodi. Sustainability is a priority for the winery and one of my passions.”
The award winning Magnavino Cellars is the next stop on your Oxnard wine tour. Let your cup runneth over in this elegant event space with a Tuscan atmosphere. Magnavino Cellars was opened in 2008 as a labor of love by Robert and Barbara Wagner, who envisioned a commercial winery in Oxnard.
Utilizing the latest technology, Magnavino produces several different varietals, from sparkling wines to creamy buttery blends and decadent reds.
Join the wine club for complimentary tastings, access to special events, winery tours and more. Magnavino special events have included Phantom of the Opera performances, Renaissance parties, country shindigs and more.
For the Magnavino Cellars wine lovers, join the wine club and attend exclusive members-only events with tastings, food and entertainment.
If you’re looking for something edgy, visit Oxnard’s award-winning winery, Strey Cellars. Owners Scott and Katie Ballew opened the cellar in 2014 and pride themselves on straying from the norm (thus the name “Strey”).
The tasting room takes a cue from industrial roots with concrete counters, 18’ ceilings and cinder blocks. Zinfandel is Scott’s specialty, but Strey Cellars produces Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and many more varieties.
Visit their website to learn more about tasting room hours.
In addition to wine tasting in Oxnard, you’ll find plenty of sunshine with mild temperatures, the only four-diamond beach resort on the Central Coast, delightful restaurants and fun outdoor activities like visiting the Channel Islands National Park, paddle boarding, kayaking and more.
Oxnard is a great destination for your next wine tasting adventure and we can't wait to see you here.
