25th Annual Celebration of the Whales Festival

The Harbor’s first signature event kicks off on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

This milestone event celebrates the migration of the whales through the Santa Barbara Channel, which recently received a world class designation as a Whale Heritage Area.

The Santa Barbara Channel is the 9th Whale Heritage Area in the World. It's an initiative created by the World Cetacean Alliance in partnership with World Animal Protection to recognize areas that are protecting and demonstrating the importance of cetaceans and marine life/environments. A Whale Heritage area is commitment to promoting responsible ecotourism and creating a safe and healthy marine environment for whales and porpoises. The Santa Barbara Channel, the waters located right between Oxnard and the Channel Islands National Park, is currently thriving with healthy conditions for these cetaceans and their ocean habitats. Bringing in more whales and porpoises to the area and having the Santa Barbara Channel be a go-to feeding ground for these majestic creatures.
