RESTAURANTS

Locals have been eating at Dominick’s Italian Restaurant on North Oxnard Boulevard for over 70 years. A member of the LGBTQIA community, owner Sean Henggeler started helping out in the family-owned restaurant when he was in grammar school. He now owns the business with his brother Brian.

“I think the new up-and-coming generations are much more gay-friendly and accepting of different lifestyles. We have many gay customers that I know from the community,” says Sean. “It is quite a bit different than when I was a young man, and I don’t feel you have to be on the down-low as in the 80s and into the 90s.”

An Oxnard-staple for decades, Dominick’s serves up a tasty meat lasagna fettuccine with Alfredo sauce pizza and homemade sausage and meatballs. Be sure to try their homemade bread and finish your meal with a delicious Cannoli.
