Autumn Outdoors

Experience Oxnard's sunset season, enjoy the best time of year for water visibility and witness fall bird migrations

Sunset Season IN OXNARD

Welcome to the sun show. Oxnard's fall colors aren't found in its foliage: they're found in the clouds. DYK? Fall is the best time of year for fiery sunsets, as the sun falls over the Channel Islands, making for brilliantly reflective waters that illuminate the sky with hot pinks and bright oranges that fade to a pastel purple hue. Perhaps this phenomenon is also attributable to the clarity of Oxnard's air during the fall season, since longer wavelength lights - reds and oranges - are more easily perceived by the eye in the absence of excess air molecules. Whatever the reason, the sky sure is pretty!

Our ocean temperatures can reach 70°(F) and visibility can reach up to 100 feet, making it the best season to enjoy our beautiful waters. Many consider the fall to be the best time of year for snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and swimming.
