With the 2019 California Strawberry Festival coming up this May 18th/19th in Oxnard, we’re reminded that summer is just around the corner, and Oxnard is Ventura County’s hub for summer festivities.

Live your best life during Oxnard’s sunny season with these incredible summer events:

Inaugural Insect Festival – Downtown Oxnard’s Plaza Park

June 1 – 10am to 4pm

The City of Oxnard joins in the celebration of Earth’s tiniest creatures: insects! Join us at Plaza Park from 10am to 4pm for a day filled with music, activities, food and fun! There will even be vendors selling edible insects – yum!

Summer Concerts at Heritage Square – Downtown Oxnard

Fridays, June 21, 2019 – August 30 (no concert July 26 due to the Oxnard Salsa Festival)

Explore eclectic music genres during Heritage Square’s 27th annual summer concert series! Music lovers of all ages will love the assortment of live entertainment ranging from old school to classic rock to Latin jazz to rhythm and blues and more.

Rock the Collection Summer Concerts – The Collection at RiverPark

Every other Thursday starting June 27 – August 22 – Concerts begin at 6:30pm

Rock the Collection is back and better than ever! The Collection at RiverPark invites the community to grab their lounge chairs and blankets, kick back, relax and enjoy a free summer concert series kicking off June 27th. Revel in the sounds of timeless classics with a lineup of family-friendly performances from top rock and roll cover bands.

Fireworks by the Sea & Festival – Channel Islands Harbor

July 4 – All Day, Fireworks at 9pm

Grab your sparklers! Grab your flags! Celebrate our country’s independence, and experience our dazzling display of sensational seaside fireworks! The firework display blasts off from the Naval Base in Port Hueneme at 9pm on the Fourth of July. Choose from three perfect viewing locations with unobstructed views after a day full of patriotically festive events.

Concerts by the Sea Summer Concert Series – Peninsula Park

Saturdays July 6 – August 31

Spend your afternoons set to live music while breathing in the fresh sea air at Peninsula Park in the Channel Islands Harbor all summer long! With an eclectic line-up and one of a kind views, this festival is a fun family event for all ages. And the best part? It’s free!  Concert dates are: Saturdays – July 6, 13, 20, 27; August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

Chowderfest, Channel Islands Maritime Museum – Channel Islands Harbor

August 4

Chow(der) down as a bevy of restaurants compete for the best seafood chowder in the area! Presented by the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, the 5th annual Chowderfest also hosts local wineries and breweries for guests to enjoy tastings paired with delicious locally made desserts.

Oxnard Salsa Festival – Plaza Park, Downtown Oxnard

July 27 & 28

Come for the salsa, stay for the festivities. Compete in the Great Oxnard Salsa Challenge, with both amateur and professional divisions. Check out the FIRST EVER Oxnard Salsa Festival battle of the bands contest. Salsa dance to live music, enjoy spicy foods and ice-cold drinks, shop the vendor marketplace, and entertain the little ones with rides, games and crafts at the Kids Zone. Avoid the search for parking, and ride the free shuttle from Oxnard Performing Arts Center from 10:30am to 7:30pm.

Dallas Cowboys Training Camp – River Ridge Playing Fields

July 27 – August 13

Join us for 3 weeks of action this July/August, and watch the NFL’s premier team prepare for their 2019 preseason opener on August 10th against the San Francisco 49ers. Oxnard is home of Dallas Cowboys Training Camp, and we look forward to welcoming back the boys in blue and America’s Sweethearts, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Admission is free and first come first serve!

Oxnard Jazz Festival – Oxnard Beach Park

September 14 – 11am to 7pm

Chuck Dennis Productions brings you the 4th Annual Oxnard Jazz Festival, a day of multi-cultural fun, food, spirits and music. This year will feature live performances from Keiko Matsui; Rose Royce; Jazz Funk Soul feat. Everette Harp, Paul Jackson Jr., and Jeff Lorber; Louie Cruz Beltran and his Latin Orchestra and more.
