The kids are out of school and it’s time to plan something fun for the Thanksgiving break in Oxnard. From Gingerbread House contests to free movie showings and tree lightings, there are plenty of things to do that the whole family will enjoy! Kick off your holiday season, and have some fun over break with some of these fun activities.
Holiday Tree Lighting Extravaganza at The Collection on November 18th. Always a crowd pleaser, this fun and festive event at the Collection includes a visit from Santa, live entertainment, fireworks and lighting of the 40-foot Christmas Tree. Adults can enjoy the new 21 and over “Eat Drink and Be Merry Garden” with adult beverages and tasty treats sponsored by neighboring communities with proceeds benefiting Food Share.
67th Annual Downtown Oxnard Tree Lighting Ceremony. December 1st. Downtown Oxnard lights up this holiday season starting with the oldest tree lighting ceremony in Oxnard. The event features Holiday music with Oh My Theater, Plaza Park’s 110 ft. Christmas Tree Lighting, Complimentary Refreshments and a visit from Santa!
FREE showing of “Cars” at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center on Sunday, November 26th from 3:00-5:30. Enjoy a family showing of the popular movie, come dressed up as a race car driver and create your own race car! Register
Enter a Gingerbread House Contest. Create your own gingerbread masterpiece by entering the 9th Annual Gingerbread Contest at Heritage Square. The houses will be on display at Heritage Square Hall from December 9th through 31st. Register
Visit the Channel Islands Harbor. Have some family fun with a visit to the Channel Islands Maritime Museum to view ship models and maritime artifacts. Then take a gondola ride with Gondola Paradiso, or rent kayaks and head out for your own marine adventure.
Take a trip to the Farmer’s Market. Choose farm fresh ingredients every Sunday at the Farmer’s Market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and let the kids help make a fun, healthy snack. With regular entertainment, dozens of food booths, live music and more, the Farmer’s Market has some fun for everyone.
Go on a Boat Ride to the Channel Islands. Off season is a great time to visit the Channel Islands. Activities and fun for the whole family include hiking, kayaking or taking a guided wildlife tour.
